Land lease, 1820 Aug. 5-1833 Nov. 23 [York District, S.C.].

Lease agreement, 1820-1833, documenting transfer of propery in York County, S.C. Agreement in which Thomas Neel of Georgia, leases 453 acres from the Catawba Indian nation at rate of three dollars per year for 99 years; the location of the property is identified as adjacent to land of William Smith; signing witnessed by Jacob Scott, J[o]no[than] G. Brown, Jacob Ayres, and Jessie Ayres. On 28 July 1833, Thomas Neel of Hancock County, Ga., sells his claim to William Gilman of York District, S.C., for $450 in the presence of J. Dressman; on 23 Nov. 1833, sold to Joseph Cook for $700, a transaction witnessed by B.T. Culp.
